  • Students of the University of Portharcourt who are currently on a 7-days mourning have taken their anger to Aluu community where their three of their friends were gruesomely murdered over suspicion of theft.

Confirmatory reports suggests that no fewer than 12 houses were set ablaze while the East West road was barricaded by the rampaging students. The students however withstood every form of oppression from security chiefs and demanded that the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Joseph Ajienka  addressed them before considering halting their decision. The Vice Chancellor reportedly obliged them after securing assurances that he would not be rough handled.

Following the crises, the institution has been shut down with re-opening date not yet on sight.

Last week, four people were brutally murdered in Aluu community for allegedly stealing a laptop and blackberry, an accusation that was later confirmed as false. The barbaric and irrational action taken by the community has been condemned by every sane human. Though the action is painful and an insult to our collective intelligence, it has exposed the injustice in Nigeria and the failure of our National Orientation Agency.
