friend in an armed robbery incident. Obviously the armed robbers were
not satisfied with robbing they needed to make a point by harming
someone in the house and my friend’s mother was their target. As they
swung the axe my friend who was the scholar of our class in secondary
school protected his mother with his head…. he died; no national award,
no postmortem speech from the Governor and of course no celebrity
burial; he was just another guy, the fact that he took a battle axe to
his head for his mother was irrelevant.

This and many more of
it happens in a country wherein people get millions both in local and
foreign currency for playing football; a country wherein comedians shake
hands with the President and women who kiss strange men on camera in
the name of acting take home National Award and an immoral youth who
made fame singing about his private part is given special opportunity to
interview the President in a desperate campaign strategy because the
thinking is that the community is populated by zombies and bimbos who
will vote in a PHD holder on the “honor” of a nuisance whose only
relevance to society, apart from lewd music, is competition in air and
space. Thus the question every sane Nigerian should be asking is when
will this madness of undeserved honor stop?

The death of the
musician from Ekiti, Goldie Harvey, and the attempt to make it seem like
we lost an icon is another and perhaps the worst of all these madness. I
do not believe that death, which we will all face, should make you a
hero except you died an honorable death. When people just drop dead we
grieve and console the family not tell blatant lies as to who they were.
This is why the statement of the Ekiti State Governor is worrisome. Mr.
Kayode Fayemi is reported to have described Goldie as a “great daughter
of Ekiti State” and one has to wonder upon what was this greatness
achieved? Are people now great for singing meaningless songs with
promiscuous suggestions or for taking and publishing suggestive photos
of themselves?

Since when did we consider it greatness to
appeal to the sexual cravings of perverts and run after men on camera in
the name of a reality show that is far from reality? Since when did it
become great achievement that a lady is even thought of as being a
junkie in her life time? How can this be great?

In the past
fathers will tell their children “don’t bring shame to this family” but
nowadays shame and shamelessness is celebrated with such noise that you
think the Devil himself is in charge of people’s life and even he has
gone crazy.

Ironically, around the same period this unfortunate
death occurred Governor Theodora Orji of Abia State was commending Mrs.
Nwanyieze Prosper for winning the Purity Queen title for a lady who
kept her virginity until her marriage; surprisingly some Nigerians
criticized the Governor and even ‘accused’ him of giving her a car
whereas Governor Kayode Fayemi was praised for describing Goldie as a
“bright star” among other accolades including that she lived a
“fulfilled life”. Indeed the world is upside down.

The problem
with giving honour to people who did dishonourable acts is that people
will definitely emulate them. The Dolly Parton’s of this world made it a
fashion for women to expose their cleavage; years on women have lost
their husbands to such exposure and homes have collapsed; the Dr. Dre’s
of this world made being “gangster” a fashionable thing and years later
the gangsters are increasing and we even have a gangster in the White
House killing innocent people with Drones…. Martin Luther’s dreams
became a Nightmare. And this list goes on and on; for every
irresponsible person you honor you make irresponsibility the “swag”, the
same way for every man who dies for his mother you honor you make
standing up against oppression and protecting the weak the in-thing….
make your choice.

Lastly, we must clarify two issues. The first
one is with regards to speaking “evil” about the dead while the second
one is the “who are you to judge” comedy.

Firstly, the dead has
already met what he or she put forward hence there is no need to speak
of its evil. What there is need to do however is to either call the
living to an example to live by if the dead is worthy of emulation or to
warn the living to stay away from a wasteful lifestyle like that of the
dead who lived life as if death was never going to come and this is the
real lesson here; life is short, if you live it like Goldie your death
may come and meet you in that state; what will you tell your Creator? We
cannot pretend this is not the lesson here; it will be one lie too many

Secondly, they ask us not to Judge and we say to them since we are in
the spirit of not judging kindly don’t judge the location of your mouth
so that you put your food in your nose. We say to them that in this
spirit of not judging please cross the road without judging that a
vehicle is close enough to knock you down; maybe when you are in the air
you will realize your stupidity.

We do not judge a person who
has faith that he or she will be in the hellfire, we do not Judge that
the person’s bad is more than his/her good, we do not Judge if God will
forgive a believer…..but we judge that fornication and the promotion of
it is EVIL, and that the one who represented evil dead does not make
evil good.

Some others will say an adult can do what he or she
likes and you don’t have to force your life on others. The question we
have for this set of confused mentally colonized perverts is that this
same justification is given to homosexuality and it will soon be given
to incest so that if a grown up man and his grown up daughter say they
fell in love and want to marry your kind will say well it’s their life,
it does not affect me…. can you see now that you are sick?

Conclusively, the lessons from this unfortunate incident can be summarized as thus;

1) Death can come at any time; be prepared to meet your Lord.

2) Fame and fortunes are but illusions, what matters is your relationship with your Creator.

3) The enjoyment of this world is fleeting; don’t let it deceive you.

4) Live a good life; one that does not involve promoting lewdness or
any type of evil; death and Judgment is real and it is no respecter of
status.

5) It was the honor given her musical mentors that led
the lady to not just music but a meaningless form upon which her life
ended so let’s ensure that we do not turn scum into icons because people
will sure emulate them.

May God Almighty give the family fortitude to bear the lost and guide them aright.

Eseoghene Al-Faruq Ohwojeheri writes from Benin City, Edo State.

The Nigerian and international music sensation Tu face has been all over the media, this time not because of a new album lunch, rather a more personal issue that has to do with him and his wife Annie. Tu face claims he secretly married Annie because he didn't want to hurt hisother baby mamas.
"I chose her above the others because she has been through it all with me.”

"Annie is my first and true love. I had known her before I met the other women in my life. As a Christian, I had to marry one woman and it just had to be Annie. We had a secret wedding after we had reached an agreement and amicable understanding about the mothers of my children. It was a tough decision to make, one of the toughest in my life."

“I secretly married her because I have so much respect for my other babies’ mothers; I cannot afford to hurt their feelings with a sudden society wedding with Annie, not now. I chose her above the others because she has been through it all with me.”

That's it, it's so so emotional but I have got to say I really do respect the path he choosed to follow in this regad.

Reuters claimed that someone, possibly one of the kidnappers, had made the demand in a phone call on Monday. However, there was no way of confirming the genuineness of the phone call.

“We have to identify the source of the call. Anybody can make spurious calls and demands,” said Delta State Police spokesman, Sergie Ezegam, without giving details of who was contacted or what was demanded.

“We still don’t know the reason for her abduction. What we know is that this is a crime, the woman’s life is in danger and we are making frantic efforts to rescue her.”

The mother of the Finance Minister was kidnapped on Sunday afternoon from her home in Ogwashi-Uku by eight men who invaded her husband’s palace.

Few hours later, the police affirmed that they have authentic information to get hold of the kidnaper's. Days after, we stil await verifiable confirmation of the the claim.

The General Overseer of Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo has been asked to pay N2 billion within 14 days as general damages or face legal action, for the death of three-year-old Imienfan Omokaro who got drowned at Kingdom Heritage Model School operated by Winners Chapel in Benin.
A letter written by Omokaro’s Counsel, Prince Peter E. Uwadiae-Igbinigie and, dated November 28, 2012 and made available to journalists in Benin, explained that the amount was “for the callous and senseless killing of our client’s daughter, Miss Imienfan Omokaro.”

Besides, Mr. Omokaro’s lawyers want Kingdom Heritage Model School to tender unreserved apology in three national newspapers, warning that if the demands were not met within 14 days, “we have the irrevocable instructions of our client to commence legal action against the school (Kingdom Heritage Model School) and Church (Winners Chapel) without any further correspondence from this Chambers.”

Imienfan Omokaro, a KG I pupil of Kingdom Heritage Model School, was said to have drowned in a drum of water in a toilet in the school on November 1, 2012.

Also, teachers of the school allegedly did not inform her mother when she came to pick her from school on that fateful day until late in the evening.

The school authorities and Winners Chapel had reportedly kept the girl for more than an hour, praying for her before finally taking her to Irowa Hospital in Benin, where she was confirmed dead.

The girl had died before being brought to hospital, doctors said.
Angry protesters demonstrated outside a newly built shopping mall during Kim's promotional visit in Riffa Bahrain, on Dec. 1, 2012.
Bahrain protesters chant slogans and one holds a banner that reads, "none of our customs and traditions allow us to receive stars of porn movies," It took the intervention of riot police who fired tear gas and threw stun grenades to disperse more than 50 hardline Islamic protesters denouncing her presence in the Gulf kingdom.

Some MPs tried to block the visit because of what they called her "bad
reputation", according to a local newspaper. Meanwhile,Thousands of fans, who had paid up to 500 Bahraini dinars ($1,360) a ticket, broke into hysterical screams as the
32-year-old celebrity launched the 'Millions of Milkshakes franchise inside the mall.
It's no secret that the current generation of Nigeria politicians are miles away from being diplomatic during and after a rivalry which see them use demented and over-the-line approach in bringing down their opponents. However, the scar remains when a party is declared the winner, the loosing and main opposition party automatically becomes a notorious enemy using the election petition tribunal to pursue a cause of action; most times it is the barristers and SAN's who end up being enriched by the paymaster as the case is strucked and thrown inside the trash-can.

I can argue it till eternity that our diplomatic failure isn't based on our democracy still being nascent, that conclusion is old and boring. If other African nations can conduct elections without political rivals engaging in damaging verbal stunts, then Nigeria simply has got no excuse. Afterall she is the glorified giant of Africa. When a situation especially one as delicate as an election becomes a "do or die" affair as one of Nigeria's ex-president best described the process, it would be insane not to understand why the political chemistry in Nigeria has remained in disdain.

Very often when following the trend of an election in the west especially the United States, one becomes so amazed how political rivalry can be squashed immediately after the results are announced. This is done in national interest and to preserve national integrity. The loosing camp immediately initiates the process of conceding defeat and congratulates his opponents.

Now, Three weeks after the election, Mitt Romney made it to the White House. It wasn't the start of a term as Romney had envisioned. But it was, at least, all on good terms with the man who defeated him, President Barack Obama.

Reports suggested that
Obama and Romney had a private lunch on Thursday - In the menus was some white turkey chili and Southwestern grilled chicken salad. They both ate and had conversation - a kind of conversation that never happens while two presidential nominees are bashing each other's ideas during a campaign.

They shook hands in the Oval Office. They spoke of American leadership in the world. They pledged to keep in touch. Maybe even work together.

That's it, the bang. I can only dream of when a report can be published in the media of how two political opponents sat and had lunch in Nigeria. Perhaps, it might not take a while before my doubts are cleared. 2015 can't come fast.

Ludovic Mohammed Zahed is braced for controversy, maybe even worse. A gay Muslim and an expert on the Koran, Zahed plans to open Europe's first gay-friendly mosque in Paris at the end of this month. He calls it a place of shelter as well as a place of worship.

"We need to have a safe space for people who do not feel comfortable and at ease in normal mosques," Zahed told ABC News. "There are transgender people who fear aggression, women who do not want to wear head scarf or sit in the back of the mosque. This project gives hope back to many believers in my community."

"Common prayer, practised in an egalitarian setting and without any form of gender-based discrimination, is one of the pillars supporting the proposed reforms of our progressive representation of Islam," he said.

"The Unity" mosque will initially operate in a Buddhist temple in a neighborhood in eastern Paris, and will emphasize "accepting everyone as equally God's creation....I hope straight men will pray together with gay men and women, everyone," said Zahed who declines to make public the address of the venue, due to security concerns.

Zahed's mosque will honor some Islamic traditions, like Friday prayers (Jumu'ah), and the Muslim marriage contract (Nikah) to bless same-sex marriage. It will also perform funeral rites (Janazah) for those who have been denied a traditional Islamic funeral based on Sharia law because of their sexual orientation.

"It is a safe place to worship," said Zahed, where no religious questions will go unaddressed. "Our imams will talk on any taboo topic." Zahed will be one of three prayer leaders, along with a female French convert to Islam and another man who is being trained.

"Current Islamic ethics may condemn this sexual orientation," Zahed said, "but in fact nothing in Islam or the Koran forbids homosexuality.
Indeed, for centuries, Muslims did not consider homosexuality to be the supreme abomination that they do today."
The CBN governor, Professor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has come under fire from various critics following the governor's call for government to sack workers. Professor Pat Utomi is the latest to make a comment on this issue.
"Here is a man under whom the CBN has spent hundreds of billions and who donates hundreds of millions of the CBN funds to causes he favours now calling for the sack of workers who earn 18 thousand Naira because he wants to save funds.
Physician heal thyself!" - Prof Pat Utomi.

You would recall that the NLC had earlier labelled the CBN governor a devil's incarnate while the CPC was straight on the governor's defense, insisting that the PDP-led government is mountain of failure and should naturally carry the blame of a retrogressive Nigeria.

For some reasons, God of War has become one of the most popular games available only on the PlayStation console, it's massive impression in the gaming world has turned attention of Hollywood to her camp. I remember the last time they were talks on the movie but later it was matched with a sad news of budget and financing. Hope and anticipation is back as screenwriters Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton talks about the movie.

Incase you are wondering who the pair are, Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton wrote the last four Saw films as well as this summer’s Piranha 3DD, they are currently preparing for the premiere of The Collection, the sequel to their cult 2009 horror film, The Collector.
Rob Frappier of screenrant had an interview with the duo, this is what they had to say;

Dunstan: “It’s bad ass. It’s been so fun. Working with that team, they have been just so supportive. They want to get this movie to the screen, so we have been doing our part and we’re very much in the trenches right now delivering page after page after page to make that a reality.”

Dunstan giving an insight on their journey to the making of God of War.
Rob Frappier was also informed that the film would be different from other hack and slash films like Clash of the Titans and The Immortals, perhaps with the clear indication that God of War movie would stand tall above any competitor.

Most times, films re-engineered for gaming experience flops and vice-versa, I hope God of War movie isn't going to be next flop game-movie to join the list.
While crimes of great magnitude are being committed in broad day light, the police decided to turn their attention to unlawfully arresting and detaining a 7-months old child for 7-days. The boy, Uchenna Nwoye, his parents and two other persons were arrested and detained by the Police in Onitsha over N20,000 debt owned by the parents.

23-years old Mrs. Ukamaka Nwoye and mother of the detained child had this to say:

"on November 7, at about 2:30am, wewere all asleep when suddenly some policemen came into our compound, broke our door and forced their way into our house and arrested us, including my 7 MONTHS OLD BABY. They took us to their bus and whisked us away to a place we later discovered to be Fegge Police station, Onitsha.

"They denied us the opportunity to call any of our relations. It was one of the Policemen who saw how my child was almost suffocating inside the cell that secretly helped me to call one of my brothers and told him where we were being detained. We spent seven days in detention."

I wonder when all these bizzare things would come to an end.
No justice, no peace, this should be at the back of the mind of the Nigreria security operatives. It is not enough to arrest people without presecution. Should this be swept under the carpet like many other cases of injustice, questions must then be asked about the future of this nation. Aluu 4 was a disaster of monumental proportion, all I ask is for justice to prevail
Lloyd has finally found rest in Port Harcourt. Llyod and his friends were brutally murdered by a mob in Aluu community while indigences watched in high definition the cruelty and barbaric nature of man's inhumanity to man.

I was in deep shock when I got the news of Pete’s sudden death, my heart pricked as my veins tightened. Death is inevitable but sometimes life can be prolonged. Pete was admitted for over 3-months, but after amputation was performed on him, he gave up the ghost. Social pundits have blamed his demise on the negligence of our medical practitioners; Since I don't have any credible sources of what happened next after the amputation, I'm not going to go off quickly vent my rant on the nurses and doctors, rather I'm going to keep my calm and wait for an autopsy report. (I really hope there's one)

If you're asking yourself "who the hell is Pete Eneh," you'd better step back and re-evaluate your life right now. Pete is a man's man, the kind of man you read about in the bible. A man who came from a time when beating your wife was not only socially acceptable, but encouraged (not that I'm saying spousal abuse is right, I'm just saying that sometimes she deserves it). Pete was right there when Nollywood was no where near the definition of a movie industry but a haven for production of films far less than those best described as utter garbage.

Despite the critics and failure of the industry to grow, Pete did his thing, his charisma was top notched, his fatherly role was definite and posed a wizardry deposition. A rare gem is gone and Nollywood has suffered another catastrophic blow.

RIP Pete, surely you would be missed.

Every new day that emerges constantly leaves Nigeria more terrified than ever. With the unfolding events in the last fifty years, Nigeria's destiny is imminent. Imminent because the foundation of Nigeria was built on British parochial interest.

The foundation of a thing determines how far it can stand the test of time. Nigeria has failed to stand as a true nation because nothing built on falsehood ever stands, hence the collapse of the so called giant of Africa. It will continue to be in futility, forcing over 400 ethnics group with different ideologies to exist as a single entity against their own tendencies.

Perhaps, the British knew very well that this was an impossible mission, but because they wanted to propose a new theory, probably to add to the lists of British achievements in terms of theories and hypothesis, they decided to forge ahead with the Nigeria experiment, using Lord Lugard as an arrow head.

The outcome of the experiment led to the falsehood amalgam of 1914 which further resulted in Nigeria becoming sterile in all ramifications-nothing works! Alas! Fifty years is enough for sterile mind to regain consciousness, otherwise such mind, such nation will never recover.

The reason is not far fetched, as a fool at forty will forever be a fool. Fifty years down the road, the Lord Lugard "ragbag" has remained a shadow of itself. The only way out of this logjam is to revisit the falsehood amalgam of 1914.

While I was wondering if it was necessary for Gen. Buhari to still tussle for the Presidential seat, I was seen as a betrayal of one Nigeria, but logically and realistically if eventually his wishes are meant, it would be insanity to expect different result when there is repetition of the same process, same old and discredited political philosophies that has made many critics believe Nigeria as a nations draws the entire world backwards.

Barely few days after the NCC placed a ban on promos by telecom networks, MTN Nigeria was quick to announce the winner of their Ultimate Wonder Promo which saw one miss Ebube Essien-Garricks emerging as the winner of the promo as reported by Punch.

Facebook says Ebube doesn't exist, but she's got a fanPage to celebrate her victory.

To fulfill all righteousness and kill-off my suspicion of fraud, I did a random search of Ebube Essien-Garricks on Facebook; the world largest social media with over 1billion users. To my greatest shock, Ebube was no where to be found. At her age as MTN claims, 27 and a student of Uniport, I can argue till eternity that she must be on Facebook. Unfortunately, MTN Nigeria has become victims of their own fraud and manipulation as they forgot to create a profile for her.

Maybe they thought of it, but were convinced that Nigerians will eat whatever they say as they have been doing for over 10-years. Although, the other argument is that, it would have been more obvious, had MTN created a profile for Ebube as her timeline would indicate it was created only a few days ago.

Eitherway, I do not see how any business organization would give out N64 million for fun when it still has areas of lack. I am highly disappointed at the NCC. A proper investigation committee should be immediately set-up to verify the data of the said girl. Her institution where MTN claims she studies should also be thoroughly investigated. Her place of birth, schools attended and where Ebube performs her religion rights must also be investigated.

I was in total shock and disbelief when I saw the MTN “Ultimate
Wonder Promo” promising a grand prize of an airplane or its equivalent in cash
plus N200 million other cash prizes for people who recharge a specified amount
regularly.

I could not imagine how things have gone from bad to worse
in Nigeria, trash are being allowed to be dumped in Nigeria while the customs officers
act blind, politicians are looting the treasury in the Billions, Lecturers now
drive in Nissan Armanda, Hummer and Ferarri. Now our telecom corporations who
naturally make billions daily have jumped into the huge corruption market in Nigeria, where
subscribers are deceived to pay for a promo that is obviously a Scam. Ripping
innocent Nigerians of their hard-earned money in broad-day light. What use is
the Nigeria Telecommunication Commissions and other regulatory bodies if they
cannot control irresponsible acts like this?

The NCC is like a toot-less dog and government must
re-channel tax-payers money used in servicing an agency that is completely
redundant, sitting silently and watching telecom companies turn from their
legitimate business of providing telecommunication services to providing scam
lottery while the network continues to lag and suffer at best. I actually
thought the Etisalat $1 million promo was the height, but MTN Nigeria has
proved me wrong. This not only shows our weakness as a nation and the
carelessness of our government, but an affront to our collective intelligence.
I want to quickly advice the NCC to investigate MTN promotions in other
countries, especially South
Africa if such a thing exists. If a country
like Benin Republic
can expel MTN for poor services, it is hard to believe why Nigeria can’t checkmate
telecommunication fraud.

If the NCC is irresponsible, I can argue it to some extent
that the NBC is far better that the NCC and could also act just the way they
got rid of religious scams in the name of miracles and checkmating politician’s
advertisement campaign during elections. NBC can force all TV media outfits to
stop showing Telecommunication scam promotions until they have been verified by
the NCC. If the NCC can’t verify and authenticate the promotions of the
telecommunication, then obviously and sadly, they should be scrapped in the
interest of national integrity.

I can’t question the gullibility of Nigerians; I can’t
imagine why Nigerians can fall for these cheap lies and deceit of these evil
corporations. If this were to be a country where the citizens are very
pro-active, MTN should have been sued a long time ago, and I believe our highly
revamped and respected judiciary will give then the fist. MTN Nigeria doesn’t even deserve a place in Nigeria.
